Description:    The brick defines the various tools that ITS will use and support with regards to audio and video collaboration.

Business Quality =     Fully managed service with significant ITS support and expectation of high reliability.

Consumer Quality =    Consumer cloud service with moderate ITS support and lower reliability expectations.

 

Experimental

  • CyberCanoe (Collaborative Analytics Navigation and Observation Environment)

    • Emerging R&D environment for collaboration

    • Goal is to support high-end visualization collaboration

    • Polycom Video/Audio Conference Bridge

  • Consumer Quality:

    • Google Hangouts

      • Provided by ITS, but no plans to expand usage or enhance our support.

Tactical (1-2 Years)

      • Audio, video and content sharing (emphasis on video)

      • Used for HITS (Hawaii Interactive Teaching System)

      • ITS proactively validates infrastructure such as networks

      • Requires set-up by ITS Administrator

      • Used for audio, video and content sharing

      • User set-up

      • Minimal ITS support.  We expect individuals to support themselves for the most part.

      • Generally used more in a webinar type format (comparable to WebEx)

      • One-way communication has been very reliable (better than we’ve seen with tools like Google Hangouts)

      • Only ESR and special incident support.
