  1. Where is the login node for Koa located?

Use an SSH client to connect to the login node, koa.its.hawaii.edu

  3. How do I access the Open onDemand interface for Koa?

Users of Koa can access our Open onDemand instance by navigating their browser to either https://koa.its.hawaii.edu

  4. I haven't connected to Koa in over 120 days.  I attempted to log in today but it keeps telling me my password is wrong.  Why can't I connect to Koa?

Koa has an automatic account locking policy that if a user has not connected within the past 120 days, the account will be locked.  If you are sure your username and password are correct, then please contact us at UH-HPC-Help@lists.hawaii.edu so that we can check to see if your account is locked and if so, unlock you so that you can connect to Koa once again.

  5. How do I reset my credentials for Koa?

Koautilizes your UH credentials, so if you have forgotten your UH account password, you will need to follow the instructions outlined in the following link to reset your password. http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/574
Please be aware that this will change your password for all services that utilize your UH credentials.

  6. When I try to log in using SSH, my connection hangs and does not provide me with a password prompt.  Why am I unable to connect to Koa?

A common reason for this is failing to log in multiple times in a row, within a very short time frame.  Multiple failures from the same IP address look like someone trying to guess a user password, so an automatic process is triggered which will band the offending IP for a period of time (a few hours).  While users can wait for the ban to be automatically cleared, they can also have the ban lifted by contacting us at UH-HPC-Help@lists.hawaii.edu and asking us to check to see if you are banned and if so, to unban you.  In some rare cases, the inability to connect to Koa can be due to a network issue, if this is determined to be the case, we can work with you and the networking group within ITS to try and resolve the problem.
