Desktop

 Download & Install

 To download and install the NextCloud desktop client, follow these steps:

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to https://nextcloud.com/install .

  2. Select the "Download for Desktop" option.

  3. Choose the appropriate operating system for your machine.

  4. Once the file is downloaded, install NextCloud on your machine by following the prompts of the NextCloud Setup Wizard.

Setting up Sync Client

Connect Koa Cloud Account to Desktop Client:

To connect your Koa Cloud account to the NextCloud desktop client, follow these steps:

  1. In the "Add NextCloud account" window, click "Log In."

  2. For the server address, use the Koa Cloud URL: https://koacloud.its.hawaii.edu and click "Next."

  3. You will be prompted to authorize this connection request using your Koa Cloud web client.

  4. Navigate to the browser window that opens and log in to your Koa Cloud account using your UH credentials and DUO Authentication.

  5. Once authenticated, click the "login button" and then "grant access" to connect your Desktop Client to your Koa Cloud.

  6. Your accounts are now connected.

 

Configure Share Folders:

In this window, you can configure your share folders. Follow these steps:

  1. You can select the location of your NextCloud folder on your local device using "choose different folder."

  2. Then, choose the most suitable method to sync your files:

    1. Synchronize all of your files between the cloud server and your local machine.

    2. "Choose what to sync" :  explicitly select folders from the directory and click "OK."

  3. Once you have configured your sync files, click "Connect."

  4. Once connected, a status ticker with a green check will appear, signifying that your folders and files are synchronized.

Keep in mind the size and number of files on the server as they may exceed what you have locally available.

Viewing and Managing Your Clients:

 To view and manage your clients, follow these steps:

  1. From your dashboard, click your profile icon and then click "Settings."

  2. Select "Security" from the menu on the left.

  3. Scroll down to the "Devices and Sessions" section to view all  devices and sessions

  4. Manage a devices and session by clicking the three dots. There are options to:

    1. View current access

    2. Rename the Client

    3. Revoke Access

    4. Wipe the Device
